Relay for Life

On Saturday, August 3rd, my Royal sisters and I attended Relay For Life in South St. Paul. We judged puzzle piece design and best spirit contests with Inver Grove Heights Mayor Brenda Dietrich. It was so inspiring to cheer for the many cancer survivors as they made their way around the track. It was a fun but also sad event as I wish there were less bags representing loved ones who have died from cancer. I met a woman who told me about her wonderful mother who had passed from cancer. My mom had purchased the item she had donated in her mother’s memory from the silent auction. We talked for a while and got a picture together. At the later ceremony, County Commissioner Joe Atkins gave us a shout out and had us come up and introduce ourselves. I had never been to a Relay event and I learned a lot and felt proud to help raise money for this important cause.

Feed My Starving Children

On Wednesday, July 31st, my royal sisters and I joined the candidates and their families to volunteer at Feed My Starving Children in Eagan. We packed meals for children in the Philippines. Along with other volunteer groups, we packed 78 boxes and 16,848 meals. That is enough to feed 46 kids a daily meal for one year!

Raegans Service Project

This summer I went to the Inver Grove Heights Community Center to make mats out of plastic bags. The mats are given to homeless people so they don’t have to sleep on the ground.  It takes about 50 hours and 500 bags to make one mat and the group has made over 350 mats.  I got to learn the process of how to sort and cut bags, crochet them and tie them. My favorite was cutting the bags and seeing what a finished mat looked like.

I got to take a huge group picture with everybody that was helping out. They were all so nice, especially JoAnn who gave us the history of how this started, taught me about the process and let me jump in to help.  I hope to do it again. It was very fun.

Woodbury Kickoff Dinner

My royal sisters and I had the pleasure of going to the Woodbury kickoff dinner. We got to meet the new Woodbury candidates. We had some dinner and even got to try some homemade desserts from the candidates. We got to watch a live auction of the baskets made by the royalty and meet the winner of the new Woodbury Days button!

Leprechaun Days Parade

On Saturday, July 27th, we attended the Leprechaun Days parade in Rosemount. It was a very hot day, but we still had fun greeting people from our float. We said hello to the royalty from Eagan and Farmington and talked with the Klondike Kates from the St. Paul Winter Carnival.

Sign Making

On Friday July 26th, My royal sisters and I had sign making with the candidates. We got to see all their creativity when they decorated their sponsor signs for the Inver Grove Heights Day Parade. I am so excited to see their growth throughout the next few weeks. They all seem like amazing candidates.

Sincerely your 2024

Alices Service Project

I collected supplies for foster puppies from English Springer Rescue America. I chose this service project because I have a 5-year-old Springer Spaniel named Charlie and I love helping animals. I had a donation box at Moose Lodge to collect training pads, collars, puppy toys, and blankets for the new litter. I received many wonderful donations for my service project including 264 training pads, 23 collars, 19 toys, 7 blankets, and many other needed items for the puppies. I delivered these donations to the puppies at their home in Rochester. I got to play with the puppies and hold them. They were so cute and sweet. Thank you to Jill Murphy Gaarder for helping me set up my service project. Thank you to Moose Lodge #1088 for hosting my donation box and to the members of the Moose for the donations. Thank you to the IGH community members, friends, and family that donated as well.

Music at the Grove

On Tuesday, my royal sisters and I attended the Inver Groove Music in the Park event at the VMCC turf. We danced along to the music of Todd ‘n’ Tina, helped greet families, and handed out freezies at the end of the event. We had so much fun!

Greta’s Service Project

I am so excited to share more about my second service project. I learned that a local food shelf gives out over 150 birthday bags a week to kids whose parents come to the food shelf for groceries. Each bag contains a box of cake mix, frosting, candles, napkins or plates, and party favors. My goal was to pack thirty bags. It took over two months but I just dropped off all thirty bags. I hope they can brighten a birthday child’s day.

Family Picnic

The royalty court and candidates had a family picnic at Lorraine park. We had so much fun bonding and getting to now each other. We played at the park, introduced our selfs, and ate lots of delicious food.
