2017 Special Olympic Christmas Party

This past weekend we had the opportunity to help out with the Special Olympics Christmas Party. This event is so important to many of the athletes and their families, it is a chance to honor the athletes and a time to celebrate their accomplishments as well as Christmas. Cathy Johnston has been putting on this event for several years and it is near and dear to her heart because she lost a son who had down syndrome when he was very young. We were so happy to help doing face painting, painting fingernails, and singing Christmas carols. Santa came and read the Night Before Christmas and passed out presents to all of the athletes. We had so much fun and were glad we were invited to such a wonderful event.

2017 Meet the City Council

Meet the City Council, November 27th, 2017

On November 27th, the Inver Grove Heights Royal Court attended a City Council meeting! It was so amazing to be included in something that influential on our town. We got to talk about what our program does and how we are able to help City of Inver Grove Heights with various events. We took photos with Mayor Tourville and the Council. We also presented the Mayor with a photo of us in a frame as a gift for having us! It was so fun to talk to them and be in front of such an amazing group of people!

2018 Miss Princess Service Project

On November 10, 2017, I completed my first service project when I delivered clothing donations to Neighbors, Inc. This non-profit, social service agency is located in South St. Paul, MN. They provide emergency assistance and supportive assistance programs to low-income community members in the northern Dakota County communities of Inver Grove Heights, South St. Paul, West St. Paul, Mendota Heights, Mendota, Sunfish Lake, and Lilydale. The Neighbors Clothes Closet (which is a part of Neighbors, Inc.) is a non-profit, second-hand store that offers clothing, as well as other items, at low prices. They help families save money while “re-purposing” previously used items. This re-purposing also helps the environment. Donations are both provided to their clients and sold to the public, and the money raised is used to support Neighbors’ programs. All proceeds are used locally.

For this project, I created a flyer which was delivered by hand and by email to family, friends, and neighbors requesting clothing donations. The donations were dropped off at my home and picked up from donors. The drive ran from October 23rd to November 5th. Due to the generosity of so many people, the drive was very successful. A total of 56 boxes and large bags (553 pounds of clothing) were collected! My mom and dad helped me deliver the items.

I met with Ms. Yudihana (Yudi) Montes who, along with Darcy, Dylan, Mandy, and Sara, accepted the items on behalf of Neighbors. They were very excited, gracious, and thankful to receive the donations!

I would like to thank everyone who so generously donated to this clothing drive, my mom and dad for their assistance, and the Miss Inver Grove Heights Royalty/Scholarship Program for allowing me this opportunity.

2018 Jr Miss Service Project

My first service project as the  Junior Miss Inver Grove Heights was collecting toilet paper and toiletries for Neighbors Inc. Neighbors is a local organization that services people in the communities of  Inver Grove Heights, South St. Paul, West St. Paul, Mendota Heights, Mendota, Sunfish Lake and Lilydale. Over the course of three weeks and with the help of family, friends, and local community support I was able to collect over three hundred rolls of toilet paper as well as several toiletries.  Neighbors is always in need of these items so they were happy to receive them.

2017 Cambridge Snowflake parade

On November 18th, my royal sisters and I were honored to be a part of the Cambridge Snow Flake Parade in Cambridge, MN.  In addition to participating in the parade, we had the opportunity to go Christmas caroling at local senior homes with other royalty from many communities.  It was very heartwarming to be able to visit with the residents and spread some holiday cheer!   We also had a fun time visiting with everyone who was involved with the events, and we enjoyed some delicious chili and treats and greeted Santa as well.  It certainly put us all in the holiday spirit!
