Salems Hills Winter event

“This was a great event.  We sat by the photo booth awhile then, we looked around.  When we went inside, there was a lollipop tree that we all got to do.  They also had a wheel and snacks at the carnival.  We went over to watch people sled and found people playing baseball.  We tried to catch the ball but unfortunately, never did.  We were able to help people find where the buses were.  We finished the night by dancing until the end.  I enjoyed participating with the other IGH Royalty.

Torchlight Parade

On a frosty February 5th, the Inver Grove Heights Royal Family celebrated the end of Winter Carnival. After a glorious 10 days, we arrived at the Vulcan Torch Light Parade. It was such a great opportunity to see everyone again and get to know our current carnival family a little better. While it may have been cold, there was so much warmth going around. I am always amazed by how much everyone comes together during the Winter Carnival. Overall it was a fun night and a perfect way to end the Winter Carnival.

Winter Carnival Ambassadors Weekend

Over the days of January 28-30, I had the honor and privilege to be a part of the Winter Carnival’s group of visiting ambassadors. It was such a fun experience and I got to meet so many people that I don’t think I would normally see. I also made so many new friends that I look forward to keeping in touch with. During the weekend, we were kept plenty busy. I got to paint, see the snow and ice sculptures, and attend the opening days of the Winter Carnival. My favorite part of the weekend would have probably been seeing the rest of my royal family at the coronation and the grand day parade.

Super Hero Skate

When we were at the Super Hero Skate our main role was to give out skates to people
that had come. I gave out so many skates that I lost count after a while. There were so
many people wanting to get onto the ice. This time I wasn’t so cold as I was inside while
handing out the skates. One of my favorite parts was playing games with Lily and
Vanessa while we waited for people to come and see us for skates. Another favorite part
was that I got hot chocolate and it was so good after being so cold at the start of the
day. I wish I was able to skate but I’m a little worried I might fall all the time. Maybe next
year I will give it a try if no one is looking. It was fun to see so many people skating and
enjoying themselves.

Winter Carnival Parade

When I went to the winter carnival parade one of the things I enjoyed the most was the
parade itself. It was so happy and colorful and everyone there was always smiling and
cheering. When we were at the parade I saw Aly who is the queen of Inver Grove
Heights and Teri came and saw the parade too. I also met other people from different
royalty groups from other parts of Minnesota. My favorite part of the parade was seeing and talking to Miss Minnesota. When I was at the carnival our royalty group was a part of the parade and we got to sit on a float and drive down the street waving to people on the side. We also got to sing on the float after the parade, which was fun. As much as I enjoyed sitting on the float it was freezing and next time I will definitely wear my thermals and big thick socks!

Winter Carnival Coronation

On Friday, January 28th my Royal Sisters and I attended the St Paul Winter Carnival Royal Coronation.  It was an exciting Coronation with Irish dancers and ballet performances.  My favorite part was spending time with my girls. It was their first winter carnival so I was happy to be there to experience it with them. It’s fun to see if you can guess who will be crowned, all of the candidates did a great job. I’m excited to spend the next year getting to know all the new Winter Carnival Royal Family members.

Junior Winter Carnival

Saturday, January 8th, was our first formal event. Vanessa and I had the pleasure of attending the Jr. Winter Carnival Coronation. There were a lot of people there to support this event. We started off the night by looking at the tables they had set up for past royalty. After that, we went to find our seats in the sparkle section. It was so much fun to be introduced to the audience. My favorite part of the evening was all the funny jokes being told during the coronation. After the new royalty was announced, we got to go mingle with all of the other royalty in attendance. I am so excited to get to know these new ambassadors.

Ellas First Service Project

For one of my service projects this year, I had the opportunity to be part of something amazing and close to my heart. In memory of my father Cory, Cory’s Closet was created by my aunt at Simley High School. This gives students the opportunity to get essential hygiene items that they may not be able to get at home. I want to say thank you to everyone who donated. It is greatly appreciated by all the kids at the high school. My father Cory would have been proud!

Miss Inver Grove Heights Second Service Project

For my second service project, I organized a Toys for Tots collection. We ended up filling 5 boxes full of toys. There were over 200 toys dropped off and over $1200 in donations. I would like to give a huge thank you to my sponsor, the Moose Lodge 1088, for letting me set up my collection boxes there and for their generous donation of $1000. On the final drop-off date, a U.S. Marine and Santa came to support. This was an incredible experience to see how much the community can come together and how much everyone cares about the children.

Lilys second service project

During the month of December, I spent ten hours crafting 62 customized Christmas cards for White Pines Memory Care facility in IGH.  First, my mom and I went to the Dollar Tree and picked out packs of pre-made cards.  Then, we went home and laid out all of our supplies to see what we had to work with.  Next, we took our fun scissors that had cool patterns and cut out all of the words and pictures from each card.  Then we traced and measured a card onto cardstock to match the size of the envelope. After we finished the tracing, we cut all of the cardstock to make them into new cards.  Next was the FUN part, I got to mix and match all of our words and pictures to make different designs on each card.  My next step was gluing, putting stickers on, and signing each card.  The last step was stuffing the cards into envelopes and sealing them with a sticker.  I delivered all of the cards to White Pines on Wednesday, December 22nd. I hope this brings joy to the residents.
