Winter Carnival Grand Day Parade

On January 28th, 2023 my royal sisters and I participated in the King Boreas Grande Day Parade. It was very cold out but it was such a great experience! Stephanie, our Queen, wasn’t with us on the float because she was walking with all the other visiting Ambassadors. This parade was a lot of fun- many bands, floats, and the newly crowned Royal Family of St. Paul.

Winter Carnival Coronation

The coronation was an exciting and fun event. It is a BIG event that takes a very large number of staff and volunteers to make it happen. Several hundred people attended including representatives from local festivals as well as from around Minnesota and other states. It was fun meeting the ambassadors from other areas and learning about their festivals. We enjoyed seeing all the fashions and costumes from queens, princesses, Klondike Kate’s and more, lots of sparkle!! The program started with welcoming and acknowledging past royal families and guests, next was thanking and paying tribute to the outgoing 2022 Royal Family as they turn their reigns over to the 2023 family. Then came the excitement of announcing the 2023 Royal Family princes, King, princesses and Queen.  After much suspense we were thrilled when IGH’s Liv Swenson was crowned Aurora, Queen of the Snows 2023. Liv is the perfect choice with her love for the Carnival and her family’s many many years of involvement in the Winter Carnival plus the Inver Grove Heights Scholarship program. Liv served as IGH junior royalty in 2013 and princess in 2016. Former Minnesota Viking, Leo Lewis was crowned the 86th King Boreas, King of Snow and Ice. Vulcanus Rex, King of Fire and his Vulcan Krewe did show up but left Boreas and his winter family alone for now. He promised to return in 10 days to overthrow Boreas’s reign of cold, ice and snow and bring warmth back to St. Paul.To everyone involved in putting this event on, well done!! Great job!

Stephanie’s First Service Project

On January 10th, 2023 I visited the Lewis House in Eagan to bring towels donated by the Moose Lodge members, and also by friends and family.I had previously contacted the staff at the Women’s Shelter and they told me how important it is to have clean towels for the children and families they help out. The 360 Organization Lewis House  provides emergency housing and advocacy services for women and children escaping domestic violence and sexual abuse. Thank you everyone for your kindness.

Ryleighs First Service Project

For my first service project, I helped St. Patrick’s Church in Inver Grove Heights. There were several steps I had to take to complete this. First, I removed all the current Quiet Bags and brought them to the craft room. Quiet Bags are filled with books, toys, and other items to help children stay busy and quiet during Mass.
Then, in the craft room I removed the Christmas stuff and put it where it belonged. I picked out 20 handmade bags and picked out different books and toys that matched the season. My last steps were to organize the new bags to get them ready for the children.
I enjoyed helping my church and the children that get to use these bags. I remember using them when I went to Mass. I plan on going back to help with the Lent/Easter bags in a couple months.
This was a good way to donate my time to help others. I am looking forward to my second service project next month!

Junior Winter Carnival Coronation

On January 7th, 2023 my royal sisters and I went to the Saint Paul Winter Carnival Junior Royalty Coronation. We were able to catch up with other cities’ royalty and said farewell to the outgoing royalty. They shared their experiences during their year of reign. There were nine candidates but only five were selected to help represent their city. We can’t wait to get to know the new Junior Royal Court!

Annaleighs First Service Project

I went bell ringing at Cub Foods in Inver Grove Heights for the Salvation Army.  This is a great organization that raises money for those in need.  I was able to get a lot of donations because people were so generous.  When I got there, they left me a bag with my name on it that had bells, an apron, and candy canes to give to kids who donate.  I saw a couple of my friends while I was volunteering and they were also generous with a donation.  It was a great event even though it was very cold.  I had a great time and everyone was nice. I look forward to more events to help our community.

Breakfast with Santa at the Moose

On Sunday, December 18th the IGH Royalty volunteered at the Breakfast with Santa sponsored by The Women of the Moose. It was an event full of smiling children’s faces. We helped them frame their pictures with Santa. There were lots of fun props and kid activities. Thank you to the Moose Lodge 1088 for allowing us to be part of this event. This was a great ending for an amazing year of fun and rewarding activities for all of us.

Happy Holidays!

Santas Workshop

On December 11, 2022, The Inver Grove Heights royalty visited Santa’s workshop. Located at the Dakota County Lodge in West Saint Paul. We spent time helping kids shop for Christmas gifts. We enjoyed talking with people and helping them wrap their special gifts. Along, with all the wrapping we sure had fun meeting Santa and taking pictures.

Breakfast with Santa

My royal sisters and I had a great time at Inver Grove’s Breakfast with Santa event.  The staff did a great job decorating with lots of balloons, a giant inflatable Santa, and lots of red and green.  Ryleigh, Rhiannon, and I were assigned to the visit Santa line.  Kids were able to take photos with Santa and tell him what they wanted for Christmas.  A couple of kids started crying because they were scared of their first Santa visit.  While Stephanie and Evelyn greeted and directed people to either take photos with Santa or to the breakfast line.  They served eggs, creamy potatoes, and sausage.  Later, people came and went so, we all went up front and handed out gift bags as they were leaving.  Overall, it was a pretty fun event and people enjoyed themselves.
