Rice Street Festival Fashion Show

On July 18th, I attended the Rice Street Festival Fashion Show with board members Dan and Carol Swenson. I really enjoyed walking into the room full of friendly candidates and getting to know them, as well as catching up withother visiting royalties. The St. Paul Winter Carnival royal family was there as well — they are always a fun group to hang out with! The fashion show itself was a really great way to get to know the candidatesas they displayed an “all about me” outfit, which they further explained upon arriving at the end of the runway. In addition, the candidates modeled a business attire outfit and a formal gown, which both also related and displayed their personalities. They are definitely a unique, outgoing, and accomplished group of women and I can’t wait to see who gets selected at the Rice Street Coronation in a few weeks. Our own Kati Giles (Miss Inver Grove Heights 2011) is a candidate vying for one the Rice Street crowns.  Good luck Kati!!  To end the night, I had the pleasure of going out for ice cream with Dan and Carol! What a fun night!

2014 Candidate Family Picnic

Thursday, July 17th was the 2nd Annual New Candidate Family Picnic for the Inver Grove Heights Scholarship Program.  The new candidates, current royalty, and board members along with their families, got together at South Valley Park for a picnic and socializing.  All the new candidates introduced themselves and it was a lot of fun meeting everyone.  Some past royalty also attended.  This was a casual event for everyone to relax and visit.  Some of us enjoyed playing on the playground.  Good luck to all the new candidates!!

Lakeville Pan-O-Prog Parade

PanOProgOn Saturday, July 12th, my royal sisters and I attended the Lakeville Pan-O-Prog parade. Before the parade, all the visiting royalty met in a room at the community center and shared stories and had some lunch. While we were at this pre-parade event, we met the newly crowned royalty and took lots of pictures. After that, it was off to find our parade float! Once we found it we socialized a bit with other royalty and parade entrants.  It was quite a hoot to see all the interesting floats.  Once the parade was underway, we waved to the bystanders and did our chair dances for everyone to see! Considering the day started out one a really “wet” note, it cleared up in time for a nice sunny event!!  I think I speak for all of us when I say we had a good time!

Inver Glen Library – Bruce The Bug Guy

P1020279On July 10th the royal family and I helped out with an event at the Veterans Memorial Community Center called “Bruce the Bug Guy”. This was an event that is usually held at our local library, but it is currently under construction.  Bruce the Bug Guy brought many different bugs including Cecropia Moths and caterpillars which are the largest moth and caterpillar in North America, Hissing Cockroaches, meal worms, and tarantulas. We helped pass out all the bugs to the kids and we learned so much about them. Bruce the Bug Guy is an Entomologist and for 25 years he has been working with bugs and entertaining and teaching audiences of all ages about so many cool creatures. At the end he gave the royalty a chance to hold a tarantula! He also had samples of dead and flavored meal worms. I actually ate one and it tasted like a potato chip! I had so much fun at this event and I had a chance to experience so many things I wouldn’t have been able to do before. We all had a great time and I hope I have a chance to do something like this again!

Lakeville Coronation

LakevilleCoronationOn Wednesday, July 9 my royal sisters and I ventured south to Lakeville for the crowning of Miss Lakeville 2014. This coronation was different from others we have attended, but it was still a lot of fun! Ten girls competed for the Miss Lakeville crown and the crowns of two princesses.  All of the contestants did a wonderful job presenting themselves and they all spoke very well! I’m sure the judges had a tough time choosing which women would represent the city of Lakeville for the next year. We also visited with other royal families including the Minneapolis Aquatennial, Delano, and South Saint Paul. After the coronation we took pictures and talked with the newly crowned girls. A special congratulations from the Inver Grove Heights royal family! We look forward to seeing you ladies at other events!

Eagan Coronation

EaganOn Monday, July 7th the Inver Grove Heights Royal family attended the Eagan coronation.   I had a fun time with all my royal sisters!  My favorite part of the night was taking pictures on the red carpet.  It was fun to see the other royalty.

Eagan Funfest

On the Fourth of July my royal sisters and I attended the Eagan Funfest activities which included a Sparkler Breakfast, parade, Royal Brain Freeze, and the Royal Sparkle Ride on a carousel!!  It was really cool to decorate our parade float with tons of red, white, and blue, as well as see some of the other floats’ decorations. There is a contest every year at this parade to see whose float best depicts the parade theme.  This year’s theme was “Stars and Stripes.” Hopefully our float impressed the judges! We had a lot of fun riding in this parade and meeting and catching up with some visiting royalty, Eagan ambassador candidates, and past Eagan royalty at the pre-parade breakfast! After the parade we headed over to the midway area where the rest of the festivities were taking place, one of which was the Royal Brain Freeze. We ate a bowl of ice cream (with no hands) as fast as we could alongside each other — our Princess Kacie won in our heat! I really enjoyed watching Junior Princess Valerie’s little sister Cheyenne try out her ice cream eating skills, as they opened it up to the public (not just royalty) this year. Despite the fact that I wasn’t feeling the greatest after the mixture of heat and ice cream, we finished off the fun-filled day with a royal ambassador carousel ride. I really enjoyed this sequence of activities and will definitely have to stop by Eagan Funfest next year.  Just as the name suggests, it is indeed lots and lots of fun, and I made many good memories!

Twins Community Night

On Monday, June 30th my Royal sisters and I attended Community Night with the Twins.  Our first stop was at the legendary glove statue for pictures!!  On our way to our seats, we all had to check out the good food.  While waiting for the game to start, we visited with those seated around us and others from our community and neighboring South St. Paul.  Before the start of the game, we were jumping out of our seats and trying to get on the jumbotron….it didn’t work. :(.  At the bottom of the fifth inning, we headed to the main entrance platform to sing during the seventh inning stretch.  We were also joined by the newly crowned South St. Paul royalty.  We all sang Take Me Out to the Ball Game and, guess what – we were on the jumbotron for the entire stadium to see. It was a lot of fun and I think I speak for everyone when I say we would gladly do it again.

Kaposia Days Coronation

P1010958On June 28th the Inver Grove Heights Royal Family and I attended the South Saint Paul Kaposia Days Royal Coronation. It was a great time and I had a lot of fun!!

The coronation included an opening dance to the song “Roar” by Katy Perry. We had a chance to meet the candidates throughout Kaposia Days and, of course, we learned a lot about the girls during the candidate interviews. By the end of the night South Saint Paul had crowned their new Royalty — a Queen and two Princesses. Congratulations to the new Royal Family of South Saint Paul! I can’t wait to see them around this summer.

I would also like to congratulate Carol and Dan Swenson. They were Knighted by King Boreas LXXVIII of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival.

Kaposia Days Kickoff Dinner

On June 19th, my royal sisters and I attended the Kaposia Days Kickoff Dinner. We had the opportunity to meet the candidates, and watched as they presented their “commercials” for their sponsors.  The commercials were very creative and funny!  Besides the meeting of the candidates and their commercials, we also had dinner — it was really good. It was a nice time to get to talk with the other visiting royalties too, and meet past Kaposia Days royalty.  I had a very nice time and I wish good luck to the candidates!!
